Garrett Blakely failed to make the finals in their respective event Friday at the 2008 NCAA Track and Field East Regional at the Mike Long Track on the Florida State campus.

Vance had the lead briefly in her heat – the second of six in the 400-meter hurdles -- but failed to negotiate the final hurdle cleanly and finished second behind Wake Forest's Michelle Lloyd who was clocked in a time of 58.33. Heat winners and the next two fastest times advanced to Saturday's finals. Vance's time of 59.85 was only good enough for a 15th-place showing.
Blakely got off to a poor start and was never in contention in finishing last in his heat in a time of 48.63, well off his qualifying time of 46.97.
